Live music:
A graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi, Landon Blackburn swings into the New Year with, The Landon Blackburn Trio. Joining him are saxophonist Tim Crump and bassist Pedro Areco. Born in Indiana, Landon has had the pleasure of performing in cities across the Midwest and south such as Cleveland, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jacksonville, Florida, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana. A student of Marty Morell, Landon seeks to continue to uphold the tradition of the jazz trio format delegated by the Bill Evans Trio. Known for his veracious swing and subtle touch, Landon Blackburn and his trio will be sure to get your toes tapping and spirits dancing well into next year.
Tim Crump is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and improviser whose musical pursuits span an enormous breadth of genres and styles. His musical interests range from classical performance and composition to jazz improvisation to experimental music to punk rock. He has enjoyed a highly varied career as a professional freelance musician. He has performed with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and Big Band, the Atlanta Funk Society, the Meridian Symphony among many others. He is an educator with 19 years of teaching experience. He is completing a Master’s in Saxophone Performance at USM where he serves as the graduate assistant to the Jazz Studies department and directs the Jazz Lab 2 band and coaches jazz combos.
Pedro Areco is a Brazilian musician, Bachelor of Music Performance and Jazz Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi. Throughout his career, he has worked as a music educator and performed in several symphonic bands and orchestras, musical theatres, and popular groups of diverse music genres, in which he wrote arrangements, and composed and recorded several musical instruments, bass, and guitar.
