My name is Ryan Hughes, from Moselle, MS. I’m an Artist, Songwriter and performer of original Folk-Blues tunes.
I’ve been writing songs and making abstract paintings for 20 years. (Graduated with a Bachelors from USM in Mass Comm and Journailsm in 2011)
I make art and music to express my joy and confusion about the human experience.
After a lifetime of various difficult circumstances and struggles with severe depression and anxiety I have discovered art therapy to be about the most positive thing I can do for my mental well being.
2022 was an extremely difficult year for me and I spent some time in Pine Grove. Writing and making art during this time really helped me get back to “reality”
A friend recommended that I should display my art while I perform my songs and that idea grew into this event.
I asked a bunch of my friends to play music and display their art and they all were happy to be apart of this venture.
The more I thought about having so many artists and musicians in one place during Hubfest then that would be a perfect oppurtunity to raise some money for a local organization.
I chose the Shafer Center For Crisis Intervention because the work they do is important to me. I’ve had experiences and witnessed others go through all sorts of trauma and I wanted to somehow give back for the help that was given to me when I really needed it.
We will have donations and representatives for Shafer Center set up at the entrance. (Donations not required for entry)
Shafer Center has a Clothesline Project that will be on display at this event as well. Each shirt is painted by a survivor of trauma.
