SUMMARY:Advanced Law Enforcement Sniper Course
DESCRIPTION:THIS COURSE WILL BE HELD AT CAMP SHELBY IN HATTIESBURG\, MS October 2-6\, 2023  \nSTUDENTS MUST HAVE ATTENDED A BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT SNIPER COURSE BEFORE ATTENDING THIS COURSE!  \nThis course picks up where our Basic Sniper Course stops. Snipers will continue the mastery of principles and concepts of precision scoped rifle\, foundational marksmanship\, and field craft skills as it applies to Law Enforcement operations.  \nThese objectives will be met over five (5) days by presentation and practical exercises at one of the most exclusive training grounds in the US.  \nTopics include an in-depth review of skills covered in the Basic Sniper Course. Snipers will perform a mock sniper mission to include land navigation\, surveillance\, and sniper initiated assault.  \nSkills covered in this course will include range finding with the rifle scope\, engaging moving targets\, and advanced data book development (building a bullet drop chart).  \nParticipants will have the opportunity to test the limitations of their skills and equipment on a 1000-yard range.  \nOur staff for this course includes law enforcement veteran\, John Douglas. John has served as a firearms instructor for more than a decade. His law enforcement master instructor certifications include pistol\, shotgun\, AR and precision rifle. He has been trained by legendary military and law enforcement sniper instructors. His law enforcement career includes patrol\, SWAT entry team\, SWAT sniper team leader\, training coordinator\, narcotics agent\, and protective service agent. John is also a PSO and SWAT instructor. \nClass will be held at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center\, Hattiesburg\, MS (Camp Shelby). Eli pens lyrics and melodies for everyday enlightenment—songs that resonate because they’re heartfelt\, earthy\, and offer the wisdom he’s gained through lifelong travel and self-discovery. \nPrior to becoming a full time musician\, the Silver Spring\, MD native spent three years as an 8th grade English teacher on the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona. The indigenous traditions he learned during this time are the inspiration for his Four Directions project. Just as each cardinal direction holds unique characteristics in the Navajo tradition\, so do each of the albums in Eli’s ‘Four Directions Project.’ Together\, the series imaginatively and intrepidly connects spheres and generations within a body of work that is irresistibly uplifting\, emotionally resonant\, and down-to-earth authentic. \nEli explains\, “We are surrounded by four directions\, and each has distinctive attributes\, powers\, and teachings according to Navajo traditions. For example\, because the sun rises in the east\, it is the first direction and source of new ideas and inspiration. With that in mind\, I started my EP series in 2017 with All Roads East\, echoing the sounds of my youth and upbringing (Alt-Country/Americana). I released Way Out West the following year\, where I experimented with the frontiers of folk tropes and melodies (Indie Folk). The Mockingbird is located downtown at 236 Mobile Street-next to the new addition to The Lucky Rabbit.  \nOn October 5th\, we will be showcasing the music and stories of Cary Hudson\, Tyler Tisdale and me\, Drew Young.  \nWe are following the lead set by The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. There will be three songwriters on stage and each writer will tell a story of their song before they play the song. The show will alternate from writer to writer and I am sure that there will be some collaboration and possible guest appearances. The idea is that the focus is on the music and for the audience to really get to know the writers\, how they get their inspiration and their craft. The Mockingbird is a beautiful location and the sound and acoustics are top notch. Since this is a listening room experience\, there will be no television or food being served during the event and we do ask that conversation be kept to a minimum.  \nThe doors will open at 7pm and the show will start at sunset.
