I invite you to deepen your understanding of the plants and fungi  that flourish in the cooler weather with me at Oseola McCarty Park. \nWe will learn the identification of Mississippi plants and their traditional uses as food and medicine. \nThis is an opportunity to build a relationship with your neighbors: plant\, human\, and otherwise. We will be meeting at Oseola McCarty Park in Hattiesburg near the parking lot. \nI have been teaching foraging and ethnobotany to the community for over ten years having been invited to lecture on these topics to organizations such as Gulf Island National Seashore and Crosby Arboretum. I have a bachelors in cultural anthropology and have done graduate work in same field. \nThe suggested donation for the class is $10 though no student is ever turned away from my classes because they lack funds. SUMMARY:Lights of the Wild
DESCRIPTION:There is no better way to ring in the holiday season than with the splendor of 🎄🦒Lights of the Wild🦒🎄 at the Hattiesburg Zoo featuring dazzling displays of lanterns highlighting life-sized animals\, larger than life plants and Holiday décor.  🎄🦒Lights of the Wild🦒🎄 will take place over 1️⃣5️⃣ nights\, beginning December 1st running through December 23rd.   \nNew\, never-before-seen lanterns will be located throughout the Zoo and will complement the Zoo’s collection of beautiful and exotic lanterns that showcase diverse wildlife and flora found around the world.  Guests will also enjoy Story Time with Mrs. Claus🤶🏻 in the Asbury Discovery Center\, photos with Santa🎅🏻 in the Africa Pavilion\, animal encounters🦉 throughout the Zoo and unlimited rides on the Northern Lights Express Train🚂 throughout the evening.  Numerous holiday treat stations will be located throughout the Zoo and include 🍿holiday favorites\, 🍔dinner fare and ☕️seasonal beverages.   \nIt won’t matter what the temperatures are in South Mississippi because there will be ❄️snow❄️ every night of 🎄🦒Lights of the Wild🦒🎄.  The ❄️white flakes will be falling at the Splash Pad and at Mt. Everest (Bug Hub) for kids and adults alike to enjoy.   \n🎄🦒Lights of the Wild🦒🎄 will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. nightly. Sunday–Thursday tickets (December 3rd\, 10th\, 17th – 21st) will cost $16 per person at the gate. Friday and Saturday tickets to 🎄🦒Lights of the Wild🦒🎄 (December 1st\, 2nd\, 8th\, 9th\, 15th\, 16th\, 22nd and 23rd will cost $20 per person at the gate. Tickets purchased online in advance will receive a discounted rate.  Online ticket sales will end daily at 4:00 p.m. Children under the age of 2 are free. \nThere will be a nightly ticket capacity limit\, and ticket availability is not guaranteed at the gate.  🎄🦒Lights of the Wild🦒🎄 is an outdoor\, rain or shine event and tickets are non-refundable.
