Library Gears Up for Summer Fun

The Laurel-Jones County Library is gearing up for a fun summer in the Pine Belt! Last month, the library unveiled their newest addition, Lottie, the book trolley. Once renovations are completed, the 1998 Chance Trolley will allow the library to visit children at their schools and their neighborhoods to provide books and interactive educational experiences. Lottie has been made possible, in part, due to a grant from T-Mobile. The company’s $50,000 Hometown Grant will go towards getting the trolley and its exhibits road ready by June 1st.

But Jones County’s students won’t have to wait for Lottie to come to them before having some reading-related fun. The library will begin its popular Summer Reading Program on Tuesday, June 4, at 1:30 p.m. with a kick-off event that will feature a puppet show, a fishing booth, and sidewalk chalk activities.

Those interested in participating in the program should register with the library by June 3rd. The event is free and open to the public.
