Wellness Center to Re-open on January 2nd

Posted on December 19, 2023

South Central Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the re-opening of the South Central Wellness Center set for Jan. 2, 2024. The facility re-opening is made possible with funding the hospital is receiving through a grant.

Upon re-opening, the Wellness Center will be accessible seven days a week and provide services and classes to individuals ages 14 and older. The new hours of operation for the facility, located at 1002 Jefferson Street in Laurel, will be Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.

Aerobics, water aerobics, a gym floor with strength and conditioning equipment, an indoor pool, specialized programs for age groups and health conditions, and more will be available at the facility. Along with programs, the Wellness Center will offer personalized fitness plans, personal training, and certified aerobics instructors.

The monthly rate will be $40, and there are no additional joining fees or annual fees. Special rates for first responders, veterans and law enforcement are also available. Access to all amenities, classes, and programs is included in the monthly rate. Personal training is available for an additional charge.

“One thing that sets our facility apart from others in the area is our staff,” said Cody Rogers, Wellness Center director. “We have exercise physiologists available who analyze a client’s medical history to determine the best exercise and fitness regimen. Our exercise physiologists develop physical activity programs to help people improve components of their fitness, such as cardiovascular function, muscular strength, or flexibility.”

Additionally, the facility offers well-lit parking and on-site security for members.

Community members can pre-register now at 1002 Jefferson Street in Laurel. To learn more about the facility and available fitness classes, call 601-399-0530 and select ext. 3.
