I chose South Central because I can make an impact in my community.

As an Emergency Department (ED) nurse, Alison provides care for acutely sick patients. She stated, “In the ED, we offer a wide variety of services for all individuals. Services may include providing medications, starting IVs, treatment for wounds, or stabilizing the patient to admit for further treatment. I love how we never know what issue we will treat in the ED. With the unexpected, we always have to rely on each other. ”
South Central’s Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day with specially trained medical emergency personnel. The facility has a comprehensive triage system that ensures the patients with the most serious conditions are treated first. The new emergency department opened in December of 2019 and has 21 rooms, 6 fast-track treatment rooms, and 3 trauma rooms, as well as additional services to provide the highest quality of care for patients in a timely manner.
Alison stated, “It has always been a passion of mine to become a nurse. When my grandfather had some health issues, it just clarified that for me this is what I am supposed to do. Today, in a way, I am helping take care of extended family and friends. I chose South Central because I can make an impact in my community.”
