Sheriff Joe Berlin and Chief Deputy Sued by Former Jones County Deputy

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin and chief deputy Mitch Sumrall have been sued by former Deputy Bradley Boyd. According to the lawsuit Boyd was fired for refusing to drop a DUI against against Brian Blackledge, whose parents are friends with Sumrall. Boyd also alleges that he was defamed by Berlin and Sumrall after the firing when Sumrall sent communications to surrounding agencies alleging that Boyd was involved in a felony, had violated numerous department policies, and lied to the public.
