Safe Summer Fun

While summer officially began for South Mississippi students the minute the last school bell rang in May, summer doesn’t officially start until June 21, which happens to be the longest day of the year. Summer will officially end on Labor Day, the first Monday in September. It is also a benefit if you can pre-cool your cooler before adding food items or drinks to it. Sacrifice a bag of ice or very cold water several hours before the cooler is needed. Another way to keep your cooler cold is by lining the inside with aluminum foil, which helps reflect heat and light that will quickly melt ice. Keep beverages in a separate cooler since it will be opened and closed more than a cooler containing food items. Items like raw meat, which need to be kept cold, should be placed in the bottom of the cooler. Place coolers in the shade and keep
