The 2023 Mississippi high school football season comes down to three days in Oxford where the North and South State Champions will meet to see who takes home the coveted golden football trophy.

For the first time ever, seven classifications in the Mississippi High School Activities Association will crown a season champion. MHSAA added the seventh classification this year to help provide parity, narrowing the gap between the largest student enrollment and the smallest in each classification.

This year’s State Championship games, known as the 2023 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Gridiron Classic, are being played at Ole Miss’s Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium. Kickoff to the three-day event starts Thursday, November 30th and runs through Saturday, December 2nd.

Here are the teams competing for a State title by game day and classification:

4:00pm – 1A: Biggersville vs. Velma Jackson

7:30pm – 5A: Laurel vs. West Point
