Yesterday afternoon, news began to swirl that shots had been fired near the Lincoln County home of U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.
This is a developing story and details are scant at this point. Sources indicate that approximately 12:45 PM, members of Senator Hyde-Smith’s family were coming up her driveway from church when shots were fired near or toward the home.
No injuries were reported and it is not clear at this stage whether the Senator was home at the time of the alleged incident.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, as well as federal law enforcement, are said to be investigating. No official statements have been released by Senator Hyde-Smith’s office or from law enforcement.
Magnolia Tribune has sought comment from both Senator Hyde-Smith’s office and MBI. We will update this story as additional details become available.
