Gov. Reeves calls special session for $2B economic development project

Governor Tate Reeves is calling a special legislative session to finalize what he says will be the second-largest corporate capital investment in state history.

The nearly $2 billion project is expected to create 2,000 jobs with an average annual salary of approximately $66,000 — the largest annual payroll commitment of any major project in Mississippi has seen, according to the governor.

Details have not yet been provided regarding a company name or a location in the state where the jobs will be housed. However, Reeves will be holding an 11 a.m. press conference to discuss the matter.

More details will be provided when made available.
