Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann Collapses on Senate Floor

Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann collapsed on the Mississippi Senate floor this morning during a live broadcast of the ongoing legislative session. Several senators rushed to his side and staff immediately attended to the lieutenant governor.

Several lawmakers stated that lieutenant governor was conscious and responsive. Medical staff were on site and attending to Hosemann, who is 77.

“Lieutenant Governor Hosemann is doing well and in good spirits,” his office said in a statement this morning. “He appreciates all of the medical staff and is eager to return to work.”

Governor Tate Reeves tweeted that he and First Lady Elee Reeves “are praying for Lieutenant Governor Hosemann.” House Speaker Jason White, R-West, and Secretary of State Michael Watson also offered their prayers for the lieutenant governor’s health.
