Roy Anderson Corp. will be construct a new $80.7 million Residence Hall at Mississippi State University in Starkville.
The announcement of the project award came Thursday from Roy Anderson Corp.’s parent company, Tutor Perini Corporation.
Mississippi’s Institutions of Higher Learning approved the funding for the new construction during its October 2023 meeting as part of a bond resolution up to $265 million that restructured previous bonds and provided funds for various campus projects including this residence hall as well as upgrades to Davis Wade Stadium.
Record freshman enrollment has prompted the university to additional residential spaces. According to 2023-2024 enrollment numbers released in November 2023, Mississippi State’s freshman class was north of 3,700 students, a record for the university.
The scope of the project to construct the new residence MSU hall consists of a 155,000 square-foot, five-story residence hall on the Mississippi State University campus. It will include 400 beds, a dining hall, day spaces, offices and a storm shelter.
The company says work is expected to begin in February 2024 with substantial completion anticipated in the spring of 2025.
